Funding Opportunity: ASEEES Internship Grant Program (Open Until Filled)

ASEEES has announced an extension of its 2026 Internship Grant Program competition. The program is open to incoming, current, and recent, i.e. those who have graduated no more than two years prior to the competition deadline, MA, PhD, and professional school students with grants that make it possible to accept unpaid or underpaid internships in areas broadly related to Russia, including Russia’s relations with other regions/countries. The grant offers $2,000 a month, to be paid directly to the grantee (intern) during their internship. In the case of underpaid internships, ASEEES will work with the host institutions and the grantees to make sure the grantee receives a combined stipend of $2,000 per month or has an extended duration for the internship.

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS:
  • Completed online application form, including:
    • Internship description, including career objectives, previous work, travel and educational experiences that have prepared you for the kind of internship you are proposing, relationship of internship to Russian studies, and professional work experience (beyond academia) that you will obtain from this internship (max. 750 words)
    • Letter from the host organization confirming internship offer (.PDF, suggested length <1 page)
    • Academic cv (preferred) or professional resume
    • Graduate transcripts OR proof of matriculation in graduate program (for incoming students only)
    • One (1) letter of reference from individuals (such as an advisor or employer) who can speak to your preparedness for the proposed internship and your background in Russian studies.
