CREECA Degrees and Certificates
CREECA is home to four academic programs in Russian, East European, and Central Asian Studies (REECAS):
German, Nordic, and Slavic Degrees and Certificates
UW-Madison’s Department of German, Nordic, and Slavic (GNS) also offers a variety of academic programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels. While CREECA’s degrees are more interdisciplinary in focus and cover a broader region, GNS programs are exclusive to Slavic languages and literatures:
- Russian Major
- Polish Major
- Undergraduate Certificate in East Central European Languages, Literatures, and Cultures
- MA/PhD in Slavic Languages and Literature
- PhD Minors in Slavic
In addition, CREECA offers Academic Year and Summer Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) Fellowships to undergraduate and graduate students seeking to gain expertise in a regional language and area studies. Students do not have to be enrolled in a REECAS program to be eligible, and CREECA encourages students from the professional schools to apply.
More information about the FLAS and other funding opportunities can be found on our Funding page.
