The UW Russian Folk Orchestra (RFO), now in its 25th year, is an official UW-sponsored ensemble performing Russian and other Slavic and East-European music on authentic instruments such as balalaikas, domras, and bayans. The RFO is seeking members with knowledge of any kind of string instrument and an ability to read music; knowledge of Russian folk instruments is not necessary. The orchestra meets once a week on Monday nights, typically 7-9 pm.
Celebrate RFO’s 25th anniversary with a big gala concert in Spring 2023!
The orchestra’s first meeting and informational session is Monday, September 12, at 6 pm in room 1418 (14th floor) Van Hise Hall.
