The Oxus Society for Central Asian Affairs is recruiting a Program Manager to manage a new fellowship program called Uzbekistan Futures, which will last until June 2027.
The Uzbekistan Futures program aims to cultivate a new generation of civically engaged thought leaders in Uzbekistan by equipping academics, activists, and policy practitioners with the tools to contribute to public sector reform, enhance transparency, and promote greater institutional accountability. Fellows in the program will address emerging economic, political and social opportunities and challenges in Uzbekistan through collaborative policy-oriented research on six topics, including education, justice, media, digitization and AI, media development, inclusive growth, and investment.
During the program, participants will participate in six online training sessions on topics such as writing for policy audiences, data visualization, social media engagement, and public communication. They will also participate in two workshops in Tashkent. Each fellow will work with others in the cohort to produce a policy brief on one of the six themes. The language of the program is Uzbek.
Responsibilities: The Program Manager will:
• Work on the program between 10 and 30 hours per week depending on the program schedule;
• Supervise day-to-day activities of the program;
• Assist in the recruitment of program fellows;
• Identify and recruit trainers and mentors;
• Organize in-person workshops in Tashkent, including booking conference rooms, travel and meals for participants;
• Coordinate between mentors and fellows to resolve any issues related to the program;
• Manage the monitoring and evaluation of program activities;
• Ensure funds are used appropriately and transparently;
• Liaise with partners, government, media, civil society and community members to ensure maximum program impact;
• Identify risks and implement mitigation strategies;
• Ensure the timely delivery of program outputs;
• Assist in writing project reports for the donor;
• Assist in the compilation of financial reports.
Job requirements:
• A Bachelor’s degree;
• At least five years professional experience in program management, preferably including working with fellowship programs;
• Fluency in Uzbek and English;
• Experience editing analytical reports (desirable);
• Citizenship or residency in Uzbekistan;
• Ability to travel within Uzbekistan.
