The next “Ukraine’s Archival Landscape” webinar takes place this Friday, 9 October, at 08:00 a.m. CDT. Dr Tetiana Yemelianova, Director of the Central State Audiovisual and Electronic Archives, will introduce the institution and its holdings. The event will be moderated by Susanne Strätling, Professor of Comparative Literature and Head of the Department of Culture at the Institute for East European Studies, Freie Universität Berlin.

You are invited to the fourth public webinar of the series “Ukraine’s Archival Landscape: Remote Access and Research Opportunities”, devoted to the Central State Audiovisual and Electronic Archives of Ukraine (TsDAEA).

Speaking from first-hand knowledge of the records in her care, Dr. Tetiana Yemelianova, Head of the Archives, will present the most representative storylines across its film, video, photographic and phonographic fonds and their potential as sources for the history of Ukraine — its cultural, scholarly and social life and its international relations. She will also discuss how the archives are documenting Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine and how these records are preserved and made known.

The practical part of the lecture will introduce the archives’ digital infrastructure: the electronic catalogue, procedures for ordering documents and obtaining copies, electronic communication with the archives and the legal aspects of using archival documents for researchers and for academic and cultural institutions.

The session will be moderated by Prof. Dr. Susanne Strätling (Institute for East European Studies, Freie Universität Berlin) and followed by an open Q&A.
