Virtual Graduate Student Conference: Institute of European, Russian and Eurasian Studies, Carleton University

On March 24-25, 2021, the Institute of European, Russian, and Eurasian Studies (EURUS) is hosting a virtual two day graduate student research conference. As part of the Faculty of Public Affairs Research Series, the conference aims to highlight the decade of turmoil and challenges endured by Europe and Russia in a global context. The theme of this year’s conference will be “Europe and Russia: Regional Approaches, Global Perspectives.” Reflecting on the interdisciplinary roots of the EURUS program, we encourage applicants to submit proposals that reflect on the region from a myriad of perspectives, including their historical roots.

The conference keynote speaker will be Alison Grant, Director of Eastern Europe and Eurasia, Global Affairs Canada.

Topics highlighted in the conference will include unprecedented national and regional challenges, including, but not limited to, distanced states and societies and Europe’s and Russia’s place in the world. The EURUS conference strives to be an interdisciplinary forum where scholars from different fields can come together and share their scholarship. Accordingly, we gladly support applications from areas such as international affairs, history, migration and memory studies, IPE, political science, sociology, anthropology, women and gender studies, and cultural studies.
