Step into the heart of a city that has shaped civilizations for over two millennia. From Roman emperors to Ottoman sultans, and now as a modern global hub, this program explores how Istanbul’s geography has fueled its role as a center for trade, diplomacy, and cultural exchange. The program will be led by Professor Karl Shoemaker (History and Law) and is scheduled to take place in Istanbul from May 17 to June 4, 2026, contingent upon sufficient student enrollment. Students may register under either History 200: Historical Studies or INTL ST 503: Study Abroad Topics in Culture in the Age of Globalization.
