Russian Flagship Program Application

Applications to the Russian Flagship Program are due by March 15 for students who wish to begin in Summer or Fall 2021.

The federally funded Russian Flagship, one of only 8 programs nationwide, is designed to link students’ intensive language study with their other academic interests and professional aspirations. Students are able to choose any major and no prior experience in Russian is required. Key benefits for students include:

  • Reaching a professional level of proficiency in Russian by graduation
  • Studying abroad twice
  • Completing a professional overseas internship
  • Receiving scholarships (up to $20,000) for study abroad and intensive summer language study
  • Joining a tight-knit community of internationally-minded students

The program has two priority deadlines, November 15 and March 15, but also reviews applications on a rolling basis. Interested students should explore the program’s website or contact Laura Marshall, laura.marshall@wisc.edu.
