Pandemic or not, training opportunities are available now that will make you a better officer in the future. Consider studying a language the Department of Defense (DoD) considers critical next summer with Project GO @ UW-Madison. Language and regional cultural knowledge are truly force multipliers for military careers and greatly enhances them, making Project GO a wonderful opportunity that will be sure to open doors for ROTC students.
Project GO is a DoD initiative that provides full funding for participating and contracted ROTC cadets and midshipmen to study critical languages during the summer. Full funding includes tuition, fees, books, living expenses (room & board), and travel costs (if traveling overseas or traveling to another Project GO institution).
Project GO at UW-Madison provides funding and is prioritizing awards for Wisconsin students, Wisconsin residents and Minnesota residents for the following domestic languages:
- Hindi: beginner, intermediate, or advanced, June 20th – August 12th, 2022
- Indonesian: beginner, intermediate, or advanced, June 20th – August 12th, 2022
- Russian: beginner or intermediate, June 20th – August 12th, 2022
- Turkish: beginner, intermediate, or advanced, June 20th – August 12th, 2022
Note: Due to the pandemic, no overseas language programs will be offered in 2022 through Project GO @UW-Madison.
Don’t see your preferred language above? You can apply for other language programs with other Project GO institutions by going to the National Project GO website. Wisconsin residents, UW-Madison and cross-town school students have better chances of receiving Project GO scholarships when applying for Project GO at UW-Madison programs, however.
