Position Open: Staff Writer for the Calvert Journal

The Calvert Journal is hiring a staff writer to find and produce important, unusual, and impactful cultural stories from across Eastern Europe, Russia, and Central Asia. Working as part of our dynamic editorial team, as well as a network of freelancers from across the continent, our staff writer should have a deep understanding of current Russian and Eastern European affairs, as well as a nose for stories that speak to and capture the region’s broader social and political context. The staff writer will contribute to The Calvert Journal’s editorial strategy, the development of on-site content, and take an active role in special reports and series that form a core part of The Calvert Journal’s output. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, sourcing and writing daily news stories for the website, writing and editing longer-form content, and participating in long-term planning for The Calvert Journal. Our headquarters are in London, but we will accept applications from journalists based elsewhere if they are able to work reasonably in line with UK office hours.
