Position Open: Paid Spring Intern, NSLI-Y Administration and Placement 2022

Based in Washington, DC, American Councils is currently seeking an intern for a paid internship with the National Security Language Initiative for Youth (NSLI-Y) program. NSLI-Y is a critical component of a multi-agency initiative to increase U.S. citizens’ capacity to engage with people from around the world through the critical languages of Arabic, Chinese (Mandarin), Hindi, Indonesian, Korean, Persian (Tajiki), Russian, and Turkish. NSLI-Y is a program of U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. NSLI-Y provides merit-based scholarships to U.S. high school students for overseas language immersion and virtual programs. More information on the program can be found at www.nsliforyouth.org.   

The NSLI-Y intern will work with the NSLI-Y Administration and Placement teams and will report to the NSLI-Y Assistant Program Manager for Administration and Placement. The NSLI-Y Program Internship is a paid internship that allows students to work alongside a diverse group of U.S. based and overseas staff to gain practical skills and experience in non-profit organization, overseas language programming, international education, and program administration. The intern will work closely with team members of the NSLI-Y Administration and Placement teams to help with tasks associated with overseas and virtual immersion language programming. Preference will be given to NSLI-Y alumni in good standing.
