The Department of Russian at Dartmouth College invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professorship in Russian Studies, to begin July 1, 2022. The college is especially interested in applicants with expertise in post-Soviet and contemporary literature, language, and culture; with a focus on the non-Russian cultures of the former Soviet Union and Eastern Europe; or on ethnicity/nationality/race in the former Soviet bloc. Qualified candidates must have a Ph. D. in Slavic languages and literatures or a related field at the start of appointment, native or near-native fluency in Russian and English, and the ability to teach language at all levels. In addition to specialized courses that reflect their research interests, the person in this position will also be expected to teach core courses in Russian literature and culture and to lead the joint (with the Government Department and the Irving Energy Institute) Foreign Study Program to Moscow, St. Petersburg, and Irkutsk.
