Outreach Program Manager (Harvard, Davis Center)

The Davis Center is hiring a Outreach Program Administrator! The Outreach Program Administrator is responsible for developing programming and professional development opportunities for K-14 educators, creating and disseminating curricular materials on Eurasia, and developing and supporting a network of educators in the greater New England area. This position is part-time (28 hours/week) and benefits-eligible.

Position Description

  • Responsible for developing annual plans to disseminate knowledge about Russia/Eurasia and about the work being done by Harvard faculty and affiliates of the Davis Center. The different constituencies (K-14, Teachers, Students, and the General Community) targeted by the Outreach Program have different needs, and the Outreach Program Administrator, in collaboration with the Associate Director of the Davis Center, is responsible for crafting an appropriate strategy for each.
  • Organizes teacher workshops and seminars, either independently or in collaboration with other Harvard area studies centers and external organizations.
  • Coordinates presentations for K-14 schools, as well as community colleges, public libraries, etc. within New England. This includes delivering lectures and recruiting subject-matter experts as appropriate.
  • Facilitates the creation and dissemination of curricula for classroom use and works with Communications team to make materials available on the DCRES website.
  • Chairs the Global Studies Outreach Committee, a group of FAS, Harvard, and Divinity School research centers, who prepare a summer workshop for teachers across the country.
  • Chairs the Engaging Eurasia Teacher Fellowship, a multi-university collaboration for high school and community college educators.
  • Represents the Davis Center at conferences organized by social studies and foreign language organizations in New England. Develops and delivers presentations on Russia, Eastern Europe, Central Asia.
  • Works to expand the network of teachers connected to the Davis Center and our outreach work.
  • Oversees the outreach programming budget and reconciles payments related to outreach programming.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Previous experience with classroom teaching and curriculum development.

Additional Qualifications and Skills

  • Current understanding of education trends, issues, and innovations as they relate to primary education and professional development.
  • Experience working and/or living in Russia/Eurasia, or academic background in Russian/Eurasian Studies.
  • Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.
  • Strong public speaking experience.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects.
  • Initiative, creativity, and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Excellent writing and presentation skills.
  • Minimal domestic travel.
