Opportunity: University of Wisconsin Russian Folk Orchestra

The UW Russian Folk Orchestra in its 22nd season has openings for musicians for the 2019-2020 school year!

Come join us, and we will teach you how to play beautiful Russian music on authentic Russian folk instruments, balalaikas and domras. We have a number of openings on various instruments!

The RFO will have its orientation session and a first practice Monday, September 16, at 6 pm in room 1418 Van Hise Hall, 14th floor, 1220 Linden Drive.

The Russian Folk Orchestra is the official UW performing and touring ensemble. Anyone is welcome to join, especially those with any stringed instrument experience. Please note: the ability to read music is highly desirable!

This is our 22nd season! Two years ago, we had an amazing 20th anniversary concert to the standing room only! You can read about it, see multiple photos and video clips and watch live interviews (including the one by Voice of America) here: http://www.russorch.wisc.edu/20th.html

Also, we just released our new (8th!) CD/DVD!

The Orchestra will supply you with the instrument, costume, and music. Free lessons will be available.

If you’re interested in joining our exciting and unique ensemble, please email the Music director/Founder, Victor Gorodinsky at musicdir@russorch.wisc.edu
