Experiential Learning Seminar and Trip – Central Asia and the Old Silk Road Kazakhstan
Tentative dates: September 22—October 2, 2019
Please join the UW-Madison Division of Extension-Juneau County office for a once-in-a-lifetime, Citizen to Citizen Diplomacy travel opportunity to Kazakhstan, the heart of Central Asia! Transcend the typical tourist or business travel experience on this adventurous study tour through home-stays with local families, exclusive tours of UN World Heritage Sights and private meetings with government leaders. Participants from all walks of life are encouraged to participate.
In coordination with Open World, Delta Credit, CESA and Kazakhstan government officials, the Division of Extension office of Juneau County is pleased to invite you to participate in a 12-day cultural and learning exchange. Western Wisconsin has hosted 10 Kazakh leadership delegations in the past seven years. As a result of this successful Citizen to Citizen Diplomacy efforts through Open World we have been invited by Delta Credit and the Kazakhstan government to bring a small delegation to Central Asia in August 2019. A Kazakh “Wisconsin Alumni” group composed of over 50 past delegates to Wisconsin will cooperate in hosting our delegation.
Initial estimates of trip cost total $2800-$3300 per participant which includes airfare, most in-country travel, lodging, cultural visits, and some meals. The hospitality of our hosts in each country allows us to offer this international experience at such an advantageous price.
