Providing Access via Descriptive Cataloging for Yudin Russian Collection (Onsite) – Russia Section

Project Description: This project would allow a Junior Fellow to work with the Yudin Collection, an approximately 80,000 volume collection purchased by the Library in 1907 from Siberian bibliophile Gennadii Vasil’evich Yudin and the foundation for the Russian-language collection at the Library. Working with Library catalogers, the Junior Fellow will learn to create and upgrade initial bibliographic records to the descriptive level, applying RDA rules and ClassWeb Plus tools to improve bibliographic access to and increase discoverability of the collection for both the American public and international patrons.

In addition to gaining valuable hands-on experience in cataloging the fellow will have an opportunity to conduct research on a topic of their choice, such as Russian Imperial history, regional social life and customs, and religious life. They will also have the chance to work with a collection foundational to the Library’s Russian language collections and learn more about the invaluable resources we provide.

Please submit your application materials to the USAJobs listing for “2025 Junior Fellows Program (Onsite Internship)” for consideration. The project for the Russian-language collection is titled: Providing Access via Descriptive Cataloging for Yudin Russian Collection (Onsite)
