Job: Project Assistant, Wisconsin Russia Project (CREECA)

Pending confirmation of continued funding from the Carnegie Corporation of New York (CCNY) in support of Russian studies, The Center for Russia, East Europe, and Central Asia (CREECA) seeks an organized and efficient graduate student with strong writing, communication, and organizational skills to work as a project assistant on the Wisconsin Russia Project.

All applicants must be graduate students at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, with excellent writing and communication skills, experience with event planning and coordinating logistics, and facility with tracking financial documents and managing a budget. They should have strong time-management skills and should be able to handle multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously by working independently and with the CREECA Associate Director, the project faculty director, and with other faculty and staff. The PA should have experience with word processing and data management, using Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, or other comparable programs. Experience with managing social media and websites (WordPress) is also a plus. The ideal candidate will have previous coursework in Russian language and/or area studies. Written and spoken Russian-language ability is also desirable. Preference will be given to UW-Madison graduate students who will be enrolled through the end of the project period (August 2020) and who would, given satisfactory job performance, commit to keeping this position through August 2020.

The initial appointment would be for the fall 2018 semester, with possible extension of the position through the duration of the project period.

This is a half-time graduate assistantship. Annual compensation would be $22,427 (monthly salary is approximately $1,869). The position offers tuition remission and other benefits standard for graduate project assistants.
