The UCL School of Slavonic and East European Studies (SSEES) is seeking to recruit a Lecturer specialising in Critical Area Studies. This post is part of SSEES’s current programme of academic investments and will make a critical contribution to the School’s unique mission.
Interdisciplinary Area Studies is at the heart of everything SSEES does and this new position will play a key role in developing new understandings and approaches as to how Area Studies is constructed, defined, conducted and critiqued, from which new bridges between disciplines and across regions will develop.
The post-holder will have specialist interdisciplinary area and linguistic expertise of at least one country in the SSESS region, together with excellent qualitative methodological skills, and will undertake cutting-edge research and teaching to comparatively explore and analyse the societies, cultures and languages of the region through the lens of Critical Area Studies.
The School has a particular interest in developing its expertise in the visual culture of the SSEES region and we would welcome applications from candidates who could contribute to this endeavour.
