The Center for Russia, East Europe, and Central Asia (CREECA) is seeking an organized, efficient, and personable graduate student with strong writing, communication, and organizational skills to work as a project assistant on communications for CREECA and on various aspects of the UW-Madison Partnership with Nazarbayev University (NU) for the fall 2017 semester. All applicants must be graduate students at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Applicants should have excellent writing and communication skills, experience with social media, and experience with desktop publishing. Experience with website management and design also desired.
The ideal candidate will have previous coursework in the languages and/or area studies of Russia, East Europe, and/or Central Asia. Applicants should have excellent time-management skills and should be able to handle multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously by working independently and with the CREECA Associate Director and other faculty and staff. The PA should also have experience with word processing, data management, layout, and Web design, using Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Adobe Dreamweaver, Drupal, WordPress, Photoshop, Illustrator, or other comparable programs. Photography skills are desirable.
This is a half-time (50%) graduate project assistantship for fall 2017 that requires a commitment of 20 hours per week. Candidates should commit to working at least 15 of those hours in the CREECA office during regular business hours, with an additional 5 hours/week that may be scheduled flexibly. This position is for the fall semester only.
