The University of Wisconsin Russian Folk Orchestra

FREEOn Saturday, April 6, 2 pm, the University of Wisconsin Russian Folk Orchestra performs at Lawrence University, Appleton, WI.
The Orchestra is a unique ensemble of over 40 people performing Russian and other East-European folk music on authentic Russian instruments, primarily balalaikas and domras. The repertoire consists mainly of Russian and other Slavic folk songs, dances, and ballads, with occasional selections of classical Russian music and popular Western tunes.
Music director and principal conductor: Victor Gorodinsky
The concert is free and open to the public. There will be a reception following the concert.
2pm, Chapel: please join us for pre-concert lecture and instrument demonstration!
Victor Gorodinsky, the conductor of the UW Russian Folk Orchestra, will give a short informal presentation on Russian folk instruments.
