Assistant Professor, Russian, East European, and Eurasian Studies Program at Wesleyan University

Wesleyan University’s Russian, East European, and Eurasian Studies Program invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor beginning July 1, 2018.  Specialization is open, but we welcome the ability to teach courses on twentieth-century and contemporary Russian literature, culture, and societyNative or near-native fluency in Russian required.  The appointment is in an interdisciplinary program and will require working with colleagues in political science, history, religion, and language and literature, so preference will be given to applicants with a proven commitment to interdisciplinarity.  Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Slavic Languages and Literatures or a related field in hand by the time of appointment.  The teaching load is 2/2.  Additional duties include advising and mentoring students, carrying on a program of research, and participating in faculty governance at the departmental and university level.  Wesleyan is a highly selective liberal arts college that deeply values both scholarship and teaching, has a strong, diverse undergraduate student body, and offers a generous sabbatical program and competitive salaries and benefits.
