NEW Call for Applications: ASEEES Summer Dissertation Writing Grants
Thanks to the generosity of our members and donors, ASEEES is able to launch a new Summer Dissertation Writing Grants program. We are offering a limited number of grants, with a maximum stipend of $6,000, for graduate students at US universities for the purposes of summer dissertation writing on any aspect of Slavic, East European, and Eurasian studies in any discipline. The writing grant program is directed at PhD students who do not qualify for the ASEEES Dissertation Research Grant because they do not intend to conduct research in the region.

Call for Applications: ASEEES Dissertation Research Grants
ASEEES is offering Dissertation Research Grants, with a maximum stipend of $6,000 each, for the purposes of conducting doctoral dissertation research in Eastern Europe and Eurasia in any aspect of Slavic, East European, and Eurasian studies in any discipline in 2020-2021. The grants include: the Research Grant in Women’s and Gender Studies (open to all disciplines and geographic foci in Eastern Europe and Eurasia); Research Grant in LGBTQ Studies (open to all disciplines and geographic foci in Eastern Europe and Eurasia); and the Joseph Bradley and Christine Ruane Dissertation Research Grant (open to all disciplines and any aspect of Russian studies broadly defined).

Call for Applications: Understanding Modern Russia Research Grants
ASEEES is sponsoring a limited number of grants with stipends up to $6,000 for the purposes of conducting graduate research related to the rule of law, governance, economy, business, and society in Russia in 2020-2021. These grants are intended to provide opportunities for young scholars to make connections with Russian peers and senior specialists, promoting long-term professional relations, and to foster the next generation of Russia experts. Graduate students in MA programs and professional schools are strongly encouraged to apply. PhD students at the predissertation level may apply for pre-dissertation research.
This is a restructured grant program that was previously called the “Civil Society in Russia” grants. If you already applied for the grant, you application is automatically rolled over into the restructured program. Call for Nominations: 2020 ASEEES Distinguished Contributions Award
ASEEES Distinguished Contributions to Slavic, East European, and Eurasian Studies Award honors members of the profession who have made major contributions to the field through scholarship of the highest quality, mentoring, leadership, and/or service to the profession: www.aseees.org/programs/aseees-prizes/distinguished-contributions-award. The prize is intended to recognize diverse contributions across the Slavic, East European, and Eurasian studies field.
